SovEcon raises forecast for Russia’s 2022 wheat harvest
MOSCOW, Jun 21 (PRIME) -- Agricultural research agency SovEcon has raised its forecast for Russia’s 2022 wheat harvest by 600,000 tonnes to 89.2 million tonnes, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.
Estimates of the spring wheat sowing area was upgraded to 12.65 million hectares from 12.1 million hectares, and the crop yield estimate rose to 1.82 million tonnes per hectare from 1.7 million tonnes per hectare because the weather conditions turned out to be better than expected. The increase in the spring wheat harvest compensates the problems with the winter wheat crop, the agency said.
